In 2010, I traveled to Miami Beach to capture video footage at IDEA2010, a global convention focused on nonwoven materials.
The event was fast-paced, high-pressure, and full of moving parts—interviews, b-roll, event coverage, and quick-turn edits. I quickly learned that no matter how much prep you do, things rarely go exactly as planned in the field. Lights fail, schedules shift, and someone always walks right into your shot.
But those unexpected moments taught me lessons that still guide my work today:

Stay Adaptable
Every production—whether a trade show, commercial shoot, or virtual set—requires flexibility and creative problem-solving. Things will go wrong, but how you respond defines the outcome.
Build Trust Fast
Working closely with clients and event teams taught me the value of strong communication and mutual respect. These skills remain essential when leading creative teams today.
Keep the Story in Focus
Even in highly technical environments, connection and authenticity are what make a story resonate. Every shot, interview, and edit should serve the narrative, not just the process.
I’m incredibly grateful for that experience and for the people I worked alongside. Fifteen years later, the tools may have evolved, but the fundamentals haven’t changed. I still bring that same mix of adaptability, collaboration, and creative focus to every project—and I’m excited for the next opportunity to put it to work.
